How long before the UK gets a 7th of October atrocity

One morning we are going to be waking up to scenes of carnage that make the October 7th atrocities in Israel seem terrifyingly familiar. A coordinated, multi-pronged attack on UK soil targeting civilians, critical infrastructure, and law enforcement perpetrated my Islamists with high-calibre weapons. That’s my prediction, probably sooner rather than later.

The Perfect Storm

The UK faces a convergence of threats that are now unprecedented in our long history. We’ve been attacked before of course, but not really from within and from a combination of home grown generational immigrants and newly invited arrivals. At least not in recent history.

Let’s start with illegal immigration. Thousands of individuals arrive on our shores every month, often under the radar, and with limited vetting. Some are fleeing genuine persecution, but within the mix are unknown quantities - potential bad actors who may already be linked to extremist networks or vulnerable to radicalization once here - even the BBC agree with that.

Add to this the growing homegrown radicalization problem. The Islamification of the UK isn’t just about visible cultural shifts - it’s about ideology. Conservative elements within the community, often operating unchecked, create fertile ground for extremism. Mosques and Islamic centers - many peaceful - are increasingly exploited as breeding grounds for radical ideas. Preachers of hate tour the UK, disseminating their toxic messages, while the authorities turn a blind eye, often citing "freedom of speech."

Criminal Gangs and Terrorist Networks: A Deadly Alliance

Organized crime groups, meanwhile, are stepping in as enablers. Guns smuggled alongside drugs are finding their way into the hands of extremists. These are not the crude weapons of the past but higher-caliber firearms capable of causing mass casualties. And let’s not forget the role of hostile state actors - countries like Iran and Russia, implicated in funding and equipping terrorist networks on British soil.

The Policing Crisis

The UK’s police force is woefully under-resourced. The Metropolitan Police, already facing accusations of ineffectiveness (and perhaps even Islamic infiltration going back decades), is stretched thinner than ever. Recent budget cuts threaten to reduce officer numbers further, leaving the capital exposed to the dual threats of rising crime and potential terror attacks. Even with their best efforts, the police simply don’t have the manpower to cover all eventualities.

Is the UK Prepared?

The government might point to MI5’s record - 43 late-stage plots foiled since 2017 and I take my hat off to them, it’s brilliant work. But the reality is that this is a numbers game. Terrorist groups only need to succeed once. How long can overstretched agencies keep playing whack-a-mole while the threats multiply?

And what of the public? Distrust of authorities is growing, exacerbated by a lack of transparency and visible action. We are told everything is under control. It Isn’t. The sheer volume of crises - migration, radicalization, criminal networks and diminished police resources is converging. It’s like actually being in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. We are waiting for the Death Eaters to strike, we already know they’re here.

The Time to Act Is Now

Preventing an October 7th scenario in the UK requires a complete overhaul of how we approach national security. This isn’t just about more police or tougher borders. It’s about addressing the root causes: integrating immigrant communities, expelling those who refuse to integrate, shutting down radical preachers, dismantling crime syndicates, and cutting off foreign state interference.

The perfect storm is brewing and ignoring it invites disaster. Without action, what follows won’t be a mere skirmish. It could be war - civil war, fought not on some distant battlefield but in the streets of our own cities.
