Illegal immigrants. A zero sum game for nation and participant

There are always two sides to every story as they say. More than one way to look at the same event depending on which side you are looking at it from.

The illegal immigrants that are coming over on boats across the channel from France are viewed as invaders by some (most?) people in the UK. And this is not an unreasonable view if you consider that almost every single one of them is a young male of 'fighting age' as they say. Low skilled, no skilled, poor enough not to bring anything financially to the country but wealthy enough to wear sports gear, carry a mobile phone and pay the estimated £500 to £1200 cost of a crossing. Often damaged people, traumatized maybe, sometimes from war torn, failed states with no prospects of work and little future.

From their perspective Britain holds all the answers. Rich, prosperous, generous and English speaking. If you can't make it to America this is as good as it gets. Moving through Europe, by the time they reach the French coast, with conditions in Northern France more hostile than ever, they are ready to shoulder just about any amount of risk to get across the Channel.

But what will they find when they get here?

They will find that the streets are not paved with gold, that they will be effectively interned in a hotel, albeit with three square meals a day and some pocket money and that they are not allowed to work legally until they have been granted some sort of residency or asylum.

On top of that they will find no welcoming reception from the locals. They will soon come to realize that they are very much unwelcome, often feared and in many cases despised by a population that is by no means wealthy but are being forced, against their will to share what they have with strangers that they never invited.

Once they have their entry ticket stamped they will discover that job prospects for non-skilled, non-natives amount to riding a moped and dropping off takeaways in a cold, grey, rainy, rundown country.

So, what is happening and what is going to happen? Well, there is no chance that these people will be integrated into society. The government has no plan for that. They won't be working side-by-side with the natives. There will be no opportunity to gain any insight into the way things are done, the beliefs that are held here, why they are held, the dos and the donts of their adopted culture. No prospect of assimilation at all. The only interaction they will have with the local population on a regular basis is to hand them a plastic bag at their door containing a lukewarm meal.

They have no chance of getting a real job, buying a house or attracting a girlfriend. What local girl wants to get involved with a scruffy looking immigrant living with ten other guys in a hostel with no money and no job prospects?

I can fully understand why this would make any young man angry, resentful, hateful and spiteful wherever they are from - and most of them are from Pakistan, Somalia and Afghanistan, 100 percent Muslim countries, among the most violent, unfair, uneducated and unjust states on the planet. That makes them significantly more dangerous than our home grown angry young men - of which we are in no short supply.

Those that seek to raise their status and prospects then, must seek to join a criminal gang or else find themselves down at the local mosque. In either location nefarious, evil men may be waiting to exploit them for their own gain. To transform them into criminals, robbing and killing for money and drugs or radicalize them into a medieval, religious cult hell-bent on the destruction of the nation they have sought refuge from.

This then, is a zero sum game for both the illegal immigrants and the citizens of the host nation. The only winners are the criminals, traitors and enemies of the country. Do bear in mind that since 2018 over 135,000 illegal immigrants have arrived by boat into the UK and that the current size of the British Army is 77,540.

It seems to me that we have planted the seeds of our own destruction and we are now dousing them with water and Tomarite.
